Think about why you are interviewing that person. What do you want them to tell you?
- Google them.
- Talk to someone who knows them.
- If the interview is being set up via a press office or an agent, ask for a biography or a CV. Or ask for some background information.
- If you are interviewing them about an issue, be sure you are well-briefed on it.
- If it helps, write the questions down in advance but don’t follow them like a script. You need to listen to what they say and follow the conversation. Have the questions on hand for emergencies or to check at the end.
